To earn the flower patch, there are 5 activities - 3 of which we did at the meeting last week! :)
1) Grow your flower. We planted Cosmos seeds - Sarah's have sprouted, have yours?
2) Dye a flower. How long did your carnations last?
3) Flowers are calming. What was your favorite scented bath salt? Mine is plumeria.
4) Fun with flower look alikes - this is homework.
5) Send a message in flower code - make a bouquet. This is homework too.
Flower Look Alikes: Make a flower "impostor" bouquet or corsage - tissue paper flowers, egg shell tulips, paper plate pointsettias... what else can you make flowers out of? Bring in your creation and show us what you made!
Flower Code Bouquet: Many flowers are symbols that send a specific mesage. If you look in your binder at the Flower Patch insert, you will see a list (like Pink Carnation = "I'll never forget you", Yellow Rose = "Friendship"). Make a bouquet, take a picture of it, and show me what you made & what it means. FOr more inspiration, you can read "The Language of Flowers" by Kate Greenaway to see what secret messages you could send in Victorian times with flowers.
