Girl Scout Bronze Award

As 5th grade Juniors, you are eligible for the Bronze Award, one of the highest Girls Scout honors.  This is a big undertaking and requires a serious full year commitment from the Girl Scout, her leader and her family. You do not have to sign up for this in order to be part of our troop - it is optional, but once you commit it will be for the entire school year.

I am committed to assisting any member of our troop as a leader to accomplish her goals to earn the award.  If you are interested, and you have your parent's support, let me know. There will be at least 1 separate meeting each month for those girls who are working on the Bronze Award.  Here are the steps you MUST COMPLETE before June in order to receive the award:

  1. Finish the Journey (we started Agent of Change last year, we will finish that).
  2. Build your team - I will know soon who is interested in working on the Bronze Award, and you will be able to form teams from that group of girls.
  3. Explore your community - this is to get ideas of projects you can do, like brainstorming.
  4. Choose your Girl Scout Bronze Award project - this will not be a small project, it will be one that  makes a real impact on the community.  There are some examples in the Bronze Award Guide.
  5. Make a plan.
  6. Put your plan in action.
  7. Spread the word.

Here is the full Bronze Award Guide.

I need to know by Oct. 12, 2012 if you are committed to earn a Bronze Award.
